Beauty care in pregnancy

Caring beauty during pregnancy is good for the body and mind, but care is needed to choose cosmetics at that stage. According to Mauricio Pupo, pharmacist, specialist teacher and graduate in Cosmetology, "some products can trigger allergies and rashes, but others cross the placenta and can even be found in breast milk." Department Coordinator of the Brazilian Society of Cosmetic Dermatology Dermatology, Rio de Janeiro, the dermatologist Monica Azulay remember that the professionals in the field of aesthetics and beauty are at more risk because they are constantly exposed to the product. "A pregnant woman can dye your hair, since it paints temporary use - shampoos tint - and do not use the product frequently. Hairdressers and especialists, dealing with different types of paint, every day should wear gloves and masks, preferably in an airy atmosphere, "explains the doctor.

The following experts take questions asked about the use of substances in beauty products during pregnancy:
1 Ammonia

A dermatologist Monica Azulay explains the difference between the products, "The semi-permanent and permanent dyes cover gray hair and last 4 to 6 weeks. These products contain ammonia and should not be used during pregnancy. Temporary dyes which do not penetrate the hair cuticle can be used by pregnant women. The big problem is that professional salons usually mix 2 or 3 colors to achieve the desired shade. For the safety of the mother and baby, you need to make sure the products that are being applied. " A dermatologist remember that henna available in the market is rarely pure. "It is usually associated with metal salts, which can cause problems for the newborn," advises Monica.
2 Mineral oil

Present in most products thanks to its emollient action, mineral oil (a derivative of petroleum) was associated in different studies with increased mortality by different types of cancer, such as lymphoma and leukemia. "There are studies published in prestigious scientific journals such as American Journal of Industrial Medicine and Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology. The label is possible to identify the presence of mineral oil through the terms of paraffin oil and mineral oil ", explains the expert in cosmetology Mauricio Pupo.
 3 Urea

A major component of moisturizers, urea penetrates the skin and can cross the placenta, reaching the fetus. "There are no studies explaining the consequences for the baby," says the pharmacist, specialist in cosmetology, Mauricio Pupo. "The National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) has determined that products in dosages higher than 3% of urea on the label must contain a warning not to be used during pregnancy. The court also banned the manufacture of cosmetics with urea concentration greater than 10%, "explains professional.
4 UV Filter

According to a study conducted by the University of Zurich in Switzerland, some sunscreens may reach the milk. "The results indicate the presence of UV filters in 85% of breast milk samples tested. How substances can be toxic to the baby, recommend using 100% physical sunscreen minerals during pregnancy, which ensures safety, since it is not absorbed by the skin, "says Mauricio Pupo. The filters to which it refers are made exclusively with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, folder type water.
5 Guanidine

Monica Azulay explains that products for straightening hair usually contain ammonium thioglycolate and guanidine, substances still need further studies to determine potential effects on the mother or the baby. "The guanidine thioglycolate and weaken the hair fiber and hair can irritate the skin, but we have no evidence of fetal malformation. As the effects are little known, recommend that pregnant women do not use these products during the first trimester of pregnancy, "advises dermatologist.

The origin of the bond between mother and baby

Long before his birth and even the intrauterine environment, begins the formation of the bond between the expectant mother and her baby. It is a communication process as complex and subtle, and that this makes it possible to exchange intimate and profound. The link is of vital importance to the fetus, it needs to feel desired and loved to provide the continuation of harmonious and healthy development.
The bond formation is not automatic and immediate, however, is gradual and therefore requires time, understanding and love that can exist and function properly. It is also essential so you can make the moments of maternal concerns and emotional setbacks and we are all subject in everyday life.
Love and rejection repercussions on the child but very early, so you can give meaning to these feelings must neurophysiological maturity. Thus, until the first three months of intrauterine life, the messages sent by the mother are largely misunderstood by the embryo, although they may cause you discomfort is perceived as unpleasant.
As it develops, the fetus becomes able to register and give meaning to the maternal feelings and emotions. That's when then begins to form his personality, which occurs around the third trimester of pregnancy.
The maternal anxiety is in some way beneficial to the fetus, as disturbing the neutrality of the uterine environment, disturb you also aware that it is a distinct being, separate from that environment.
To get rid of this discomfort, he begins to gradually establish defense techniques as kicking, moving around more actively, and work to maternal sensitivity, as a messaging being disturbed. If there is harmony maternal-fetal, immediately expectant mother picks this message and starts to stroke his belly delicate mind, what is perceived and decoded by the fetus as an attitude of understanding, affection and protection, so as reassuring.
With the passage of time, the experience of discomfort turns into excitement and begins the formation of ideas about maternal intentions in relation to himself.
Thus, if the mother is loving and have a rich emotional relationship with your baby, that contribute to a child is born confident and self-assured. So too, if that depressed mothers or ambivalent, for any reason, deprive the fetus of your love and support certainly favor the state and the presence of depressive neuroses in children and can be verified after birth because his personality was structured in climate of fear and anguish.
Even the pregnant woman who rejects his son communicates with him through the feeding. But the quality of this relationship is different from the mother who wants and this is the big difference, because it is not just a biological communication.
As the fetus captures all maternal emotions, those that do get in distress like anxiety, fear and uncertainty, cause you stronger reactions and continuous, while the joy and happiness, not to alter the intrauterine environment, allow their movements remain smooth and harmonious.
The fetus feels that the mother feels, even as an attitude of solidarity, but with different intensity and without understanding mother. Negative emotions are perceived as an attack on itself.
