What is Pregnancy?

Pregnancy is the state of development of an embryo or fetus within the female body. For a woman to become pregnant, you must first fertilization to occur, ie the successful encounter between sperm and egg and the union of chromosomes, creating a cell called a zygote. Only when the zygote reaches the endometrium (the inner lining of the uterus) is occurs pregnancy. Implanted in the uterus, the zygote is now called the embryo.

Biologically pregnancy can be defined as the period from conception to birth of an individual. Among the lower animals it is pure and simple a process of reproduction of the species. Among humans this experience takes on a social character, ie, can have different meanings for every people, every culture, every age group.


Teenage pregnancy


Called teenage pregnancy pregnancy occurring in young people under 21 who are in full development of this phase of life - adolescence. This type of pregnancy in general was not planned or desired, and comes amid relationships without stability. In Brazil the numbers are alarming.

In Brazil, where there is no birth control and where family planning and sex education are still some issues discussed, pregnancy eventually becomes often a serious social problem to be solved. This is the case of teenage pregnancy.
