Abortion

Abortion is responsible for one third of deaths among adolescents 15-19 years. This is due to the fact that most of them perform this procedure in clandestine clinics and poor hygienic conditions, alone or unqualified individuals, and the use of drugs that induce abortion.

An epidemiological study conducted in a hospital in the city of Bauru, SP, showed alarming data regarding abortion among adolescents, such as the fact that they, unlike adult women after an abortion, tend to stay more days in hospital, which causes, apart from losses biopsychosocial high cost for the Health System

And particularly, it has been found that girls between 10 and 14 had high rates of abortion. This demonstrates the importance of adapting the current sexual education campaigns to this new reality. As parents of children should also, as today, there is still bias as many of them to approach the subject early in schools. However, currently the same children are inserted in a society increasingly explicit in relation to sex in the media, from the music, television programs, even the family environment.

Considering these facts, and other numbers, such as 3 million abortions in inadequate conditions that were practiced among adolescents in developing countries (in 2008), it becomes necessary to consider what impact would the legalization of abortion in Brazil.

As legalization could reduce the number of deaths and complications of abortion, one must consider the cultural and educational aspects of Brazilian society and the impact of this major step in it.

Testimony of Beatrice (name changed to protect the identity of the individual), 36, pregnant at 16.

- I flirted with him for two years. When I spoke to my mother she was very angry, both because I was pregnant at that age and because she did not like my boyfriend. He said he had had sex and my period had not come down. With my father has been calmer, he said 'God bless you and your baby come when he is born perfect and very healthy.'. After my mother took me to the doctor with my boyfriend, she was not together, it only took us, and there I was pregnant gave it. Soon after my parents separated (not by pregnancy) and all was quiet between the three of us, so that today my daughter is proud of them for still being the only granddaughter.
In school who teased about it were the same boys, but very little since there was very strict then generated more curiosity on their part. Studied only the first seven months, the last two could not go, so a friend of mine passed me the lessons and instead of doing the tests, I did work and gave, and gave work .... to make a statement. Never repeat a year and have always been good. Completed high school and stopped studying for about four years. When studied in the morning, nursed before going to school, my pleasure was nine-thirty, went home (lived nearby), nursed, and returned to school. In the 3rd school my daughter was four, waited complete eight so I could get to college, I'm a lawyer.
Thank God everything went right for me, still do not have their own house, but lived together, her father pays child today. But a good thing I took it was that I had to mature very quickly and start to worry about money too soon.

Stayteen

According to the site Stayteenhere are some things you should know to keep in mind:
  1. Are you actually ready? When it comes to sex, there is no “should” (even though it can definitely feel like it!). It’s not like youshouldhave sex because it’s prom or you should have sex before college. What you SHOULD do is have sex when you’re ready. And that may not match up exactly with the big events on your calendar. Being ready has to do with being comfortable with the idea of sex,  being okay taking on that responsibility, feeling comfortable, supported, and not at all pressured by your partner, and knowing deep down in your gut that it’s the right time for you.
  2. Do you want to deal with so many emotions at once? Big life events can come along with a lot of different feelings. Guess what, so can sex. The question here is, do you want to be dealing with all of these emotions at one time? The excitement, anticipation, anxiety, and feeling of nostalgia that come along with anticipated life moments can certainly affect the way you feel about a situation and your judgment. Make sure that the decision you are making feels like one you would have made weeks ago and that you’re not just wrapped up in the moment.
  3. Know you can back out. Maybe two months ago you promised your significant other that prom would be THE night. But now that it’s here, you’re not as ready as you thought you’d be…if that’s the case, it is totally FINE to change your plans. You are never obligated to have sex if you don’t feel ready—even if you thought you would be. If you find yourself in this situation, it may be a good idea to tell your partner before the big night so that you can enjoy the party without this worry hanging over your head. A partner that cares about you will understand and be happy that you were honest.
  4. Sex won’t be good unless you actually want to be doing it. You can lie to your friends, you can lie to your partner, but you can’t lie to your body. Sex can be very physically pleasurable, but only if you’re in the right frame of mind to be doing it. And if you aren’t actually ready, it’s not going to be fun, that I can promise.
  5. If you’ve decided it’s time and you ARE ready, get prepped. One advantage to having planned out a specific day to have sex is that it gives you time to prep for it. Eat your Wheaties, do your strength training, and get some birth control. The best is to use two methods, a condom for him and a hormonal method for her. The more prepared you are and the more you’ve thought out this decision, the more enjoyable it’s going to be! If this is a night you’re going to remember for the rest of your life…you probably want that memory to be a good one.
